The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri has commended the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers for its consistent philosophy over the years in preaching peace, unity in line with the vision of its founder, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
He gave this commendation while on a condolence visit to the headquarters of the newspaper in Ibadan, Oyo State over the demise of its publisher, Dr. Oluwole Awolowo.
Mr. Omeri who signed the condolence register opened for the late publisher said the paper, like other media, has remained a dependable partner in progress for the NOA, in the task of recreating national values, and love for the country, describing the late publisher as a strong pillar upon which the notable strength of the newspaper lies.
Receiving the Director General, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Tribune, Mr. Edward Dickson described Dr. Olwole Awolowo who, he said, will be buried on April 19 as a father figure who inspired professionalism and forthrightness in the staff of the newspaper.
He commended Mr. Omeri for bringing the NOA to the consciousness of the need for active national guidance and shaping of national discourse by the Agency. He said the NOA under Omeri has successfully galvanized Nigerians towards national transformation, urging the Agency not to relent as he pledged the paper’s continued support for the NOA.
