DG NOA DECRIES FRESH KILLINGS IN NASARAWA
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency has joined well meaning Nigerians to condemn the alleged killing of some policemen and operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) in an outskirt of Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.
This was contained in the condolence letter to the Government of Nasarawa State over the wave of killings. Omeri said: “I am deeply saddened by the incident. This is a sad moment not only for the people of Nasarawa State, but Nigeria as a whole. We join you to mourn those who lost their lives; I wish the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
Omeri who prayed to the Almighty God to grant victims of this “callous” attack eternal rest, called on all Nigerians to be law abiding, adding that security operatives should not come under attack for any guise as they “are saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property.” The DG NOA described the upsurge of violence in the state as regrettable, however pleaded with the state government to deploy his best effort to end the spate of violence.
He equally used condoled with both the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of the Security Service (DSS), Mohammed Abubakar and Ita Ekpeyong respectively over the incident.
Omeri however called on the security operatives not to be deterred by the killings of their colleagues rather focusing on their duties “as all Nigerians are appreciative of sacrifice.” He also appealed to anyone with useful information to make such available, promising that government would bring the perpetrators of the “dastardly” act to book.
