The transformation wave of the present administration has hit the War against Indiscipline (WAI) brigade as the National Orientation Agency (NOA) is set to inaugurate over 3,000 volunteers as members of the “Community Support Brigade” hitherto known as WAI brigade.
The unveiling of the new outfit will take place on Tuesday at the Old Parade ground Abuja.
The Director-General of the Agency, Mr. mike Omeri who disclosed this said the change of name was imperative as the Agency was poised to re-position the outfit for better service delivery.
“The new Community Support Brigade will persuasively enforce respect for national symbols and good behavior in both public and private life,” Omeri stressed.
He further said that the new outfit would complement the Agency’s efforts to sponsor the review of the Flag and Coat of Arms Act, adding that when reviewed, the Act would carry stiffer penalties for abusers of national symbols.
Omeri however appealed to the general public to hoist and display our Coat of Arms with dignity while canvassing for support and cooperation from Nigerians for the new brigade and for the volunteers in the discharge of their duties.
The 3,000 strong Community Support Brigade are statutorily part of the National Orientation Agency spread across the entire country, and their services are voluntary. The Agency plans to deploy the brigade to public places and offices to ensure strict compliance with the Flag and Coat of Arms Act.
