The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri has urged Muslims in Nigerians to build on the mutual relationship existing between them and people of other faith for the continued peace, security and progress of Nigeria.
In a message to the Muslims ummah at the beginning of this year’s Ramadan fast, Omeri said the fellowship of Nigerians, irrespective of religious affiliation is important in building the country of our dream.
Omeri further enjoined all Muslim faithful to exploit a component of breaking fast with people of different faith “as an effort to bridge and foster peace” in the nation. He assured Nigerians that the atmosphere that would be created in such an engagement would promote peaceful coexistence amongst all Nigerians regardless of faith of anyone.
“The arrival of the holy month of Ramadan should be seen as a blessing to our nation at this period; principles of Ramadan fast as they relate to societal cooperation should be imbibed and exploited,” Omeri stressed.
While commending the resolve by Nigerians of different faith to remain united in the face of insecurity, the NOA boss urged Nigerians to sustain the tempo to “defeat” insecurity and violence in the nation.
Omeri therefore, prayed for a rewarding Ramadan fast, and urged them to continue to pray for the unity of our country.
