NOA ORGANIZES A MID CONTINUATION SESSION WITH HER ROUNDTABLE CONFERENCE
The present leadership team of the National Orientation Agency began to brainstorm on ways to change and channel the Nigerian mindset towards nation building and transformation once it took office. This led to the concept of value Reorientation through Behavioural Change Communication to be applied in all sectors of the Nigerian polity. The Reorientation strategies under the ‘Do The Right Thing: Transform Nigeria’ charge. To implement this program a team of trainers from the United States indicated interest in partnering with the Agency to achieve the goal of the leadership as implementing partner. The USA team, Global Priority USA, conducted its first session on a small select group at the NOA headquarters.
This was followed up with the initiation of the process of behavioral change, communication among security and media agencies in the country. Their ability to work with the nation and transform their behavior is evident as they have worked in challenging countries such as Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia amongst others with resounding success at setting up 10,000 roundtables that serve as the change mechanism.
Do the Right Thing: Patriotism and Ethics First is a year long program expected to be communicated via 6 major ROUNDTABLE SESSIONS, namely; Foundation(1), Continuation(4) and Final Session(1). On Oct 29th 2012 a foundation and continuation session was held for the security and media agencies respectively. Then on the 30th Nov 2012 a Mid Continuation Session to evaluate their success and challenges was held.
At the end of the program, participant enumerated their successes and challenges but it was obvious that the program is meeting its target.
