DIVERSITY IS OUR UNTAPPED RESOURCE BASE – DG NOA
The Director General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri has identified Nigeria’s cultural diversity as the only resource base yet untapped. He said this while receiving a delegation of Neighbour to Neighbour from the North-East Zone in his office recently.
“Great countries like the United States are envious of our potentials in cultural diversity. Nigeria should explore this opportunity to create a pool of knowledge to further our development”, he said.
The NOA boss also commended the visit of the Neighbour to Neighbour Coordinators for their initiative to partner with the Agency to promote peace in the North-East through dialogue with traditional rulers and opinion moulders from the zone. Mr. Omeri who reminded them that the Agency had convened a gathering recently in Katsina State aimed at fostering peace and harmonious co-existence among people, also promised that such event will be staged in the North-East in the near future.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the Neighbour to Neighbour team, Mr. Ahmed Lawan praised the impact of the NOA boss in transforming and repositioning the Agency in line with the Transformation Agenda of the President Jonathan administration.
“It is no surprise to us that you have done so well within this short period as NOA Director General. You have demonstrated similar quality leadership at Neighbour to Neighbour”, said Lawan. Neighbour to Neighbour is an NGO which played a vital role in President Jonathan’s victory in May 2011 Presidential Election.
