NOA, NAFDAC PARTNER TO SACK FAKE DRUGS
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) are partnering to checkmate the tide of fake and substandard drugs in the country.
The Director General, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Mike Omeri made this known when he recently paid a courtesy visit on his NAFDAC counterpart, Dr. Paul Orhii. Mr. Omeri said the visit was to enlist the partnership of NAFDAC for NOA’s “Do the Right Thing: Stop Fake and Substandard Drugs” nationwidecampaign which will soon commence.
In his words, “NOA will utilize its numerous platforms including the community theatre, community radio, bulk SMS, e-polling and other on-line platforms to communicate the message against fake and substandard drugs to Nigerians in all the 774 Local Government Areas of the country. Nigerians stand to benefit more from the partnership between our two agencies in this campaign”, said the NOA boss.
The NAFDAC Director General, Mr. Paul Orhii who corroborated Omeri’s position said if Nigerians do the right thing, fake and counterfeit drugs will be done away with.
Orhii said “NOA and NAFDAC will pool resources together to enhance the effect of the campaign. We will leverage on the staff strength of the NOA which is greater than our own at NAFDAC, as well as the spread of NOA in all the Local Governments in spreading the “Do the Right Thing” message to safeguard the health of Nigerians”.
The “Do the Right Thing” campaign of the NOA, since May 2012, seeks to instill in Nigerians the attitude of doing what is right in their various spheres of activities and influence with the ultimate goal of transforming Nigeria.
